Luley was born 1971 as a son whose family has a long music tradition. He performed for the first time, when he was twelve years old, playing Ragtime.
At the age of 15 he made his first professional steps in his fathers New Orleans and
Dixie band „ The Hot Swing Company“. In 1993 he started as sideman of several internationally
well-known artists such as Angela Brown, Gene “Mighty Flea” Conners,
Big Jay McNeely or Janice Harrington. He performed with bluesmen like Little Willie
Littlefield, Louisiana Red and Albie Donnelly and with artists from New Orleans like
John and Lillian Boutté, Leroy Jones, Lucien Barbarin
and many more.
Again and again he was attracted by the city on the
banks of the Mississippi, where jazz was born. There he
went several times to walk through the dense atmosphere
of barrelhouse blues and Creole rhythms, following the traces of old piano giants such as
James Booker, Professor Longhair and Eddie Bo. But also the music of later piano players like Herbie
Hancock, Errol Garner or Hampton Hawes belong to
Luley‘s influences.
In 2004 he founded his record label Luleymusic Records. He
is music producer and promoter of festivals, concerts, workshops and other events. He also works as a
coach, composer, arranger and mentor for artists and projects of miscellaneous culturel areas.
